Orphanage Construction

Our special mission emphasis is Peru. The pastor of the church in Lima is Luis Angel Morillas. He and his wife have a son, Santiago and another child due in September.

There is a new mission, an orphanage, going in to the jungle in eastern Peru near the town of Puerto Maldonado. Italo Abuid, the former pastor of the Spanish-speaking Brethren church in Sarasota, Iglesia de los Hermanos, is leading the work there. The church has had two short-term mission teams travel to the jungle to help build this orphanage. The first one dug the holes and then tied the rebar and poured the concrete for the foundation. The second team, which went just last June, painted the orphanage building inside and out. They also participated in the ordination service for Italo Abuid.

The Bertha Dixon Institute (El Instituto Bertha Dixon) is being built in Pucusana, outside of Lima. There are plans to use this as a training and rehabilitation center. Below is a picture of its construction.

We participate with the Brethren Church in other foreign mission fields, including India, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Mexico, Malaysia, China, the Philippines and Spain, as well as church planting and special ministries here in the United States. We partner with World Relief, a relief organization that fights poverty and disasters in the United States and around the world. For more information on all of these works for the Lord, please visit our national church's website at www.brethrenchurch.org.
